TFG account handed over to the Company

After writing my review, received feedback and detailed statement from them. What a surprised, I got charged about R59 for the call I made to them to follow up on the account after not receiving any feedback. I had to ask, is it fair for them to charge for calls and interest as I was waiting for feedback. From a balance of R429 I have to pay R800+ because they had to charge me interest as it is within the Creditors Regulations which I don’t understand if this was settled in October when I made the call. How can my account accumulate interest if it was escalated to be resolved. Funny part is, the Agent that I spoke to is no longer on their employ but I’m paying for her mishap as well. Anyway sad that we have to go through such treatment.

 Good day Ms Mbali M,

Thank you for your hellopeter inquiry herein concerning your account which has been handed over to our office for debt recovery on behalf of the credit provider.
Please note that a detailed email was previously sent to you concerning this matter.
Your account is administered in accordance with the Debt Collectors Act 114 of 1998 and is therefore subjected to applicable fees.
Upon reviewing your account, we have made the following observations:
In terms of calls made to you to discuss payment arrangements we have noted the following:
- Our system indicates a call was made to you on 05.07.2024, during which a settlement offer was provided, with a due date of 31.07.2024.
- As per tracking the expected settlement payment was not received by the deadline of 31.07.2024, prompting a follow-up call to you on 05.08.2024.
- During the review of the call on 05.08.2024, it was noted that a new settlement amount was offered. However, this settlement was not captured as you ultimately agreed to pay a smaller amount monthly.

As a result, the settlement arrangement was not captured on our system and is therefore considered invalid.
Our records show that a payment similar to the settlement amount provided on 05.08.2024 was received on 07.08.2024. Unfortunately, this amount did not fully settle the account as the settlement was not officially captured.

Please be aware that the 20% settlement discount offered at the time is no longer available.
Therefore, the account reflects the full outstanding balance and is subject to fees.

We acknowledged that you were not satisfied with our previous feedback. Consequently, the matter was escalated for further review, resulting in the following outcomes:
  * Your dispute had been acknowledged however we wish to state the balance on the account has accrued correctly and lawfully.
  * Notwithstanding the above, and in the interest of resolving this matter, as an act of good faith, we have reversed the call fees from the time of your inquiry to present.

An updated statement was provided to you, clarifying that you are still liable for the remaining account balance, inclusive of any future fees incurred.
We encourage you to contact our office urgently to discuss a payment arrangement regarding the outstanding balance.
Alternately, you may respond to the final email from our office, and we will arrange a suitable time to discuss payment options with you.

We await your response to further assist before the account is moved to automatic tracking, whereby communication will be directed to you in attempts to secure payment arrangements.
Please note that all charges are app**** in accordance with the Debt Collectors Act 114 of 1998.

Kind Regards
Maheshree
