*********** AND NOT WILLING TO ASSIST – Does not know customer service and not bothered at all!

I sent an email to Capfin regarding my account that was handled by Easton-Berry Incorporated as I wanted to know what my total outstanding balance was. I received a respond from a lady by the name of Nokukhanya Bhengu who copied Kimay Moodley in her responds, she responded to me by wanting to set up a R500 payment arrangement where as I had a R900 arrangement in place and I was happy with.

I then explained that no I just want the balance of which she provided and included a statement. While going through the statement I came across an amount of R315.50 of which I did not understand how it came about and asked if she could advise for which period was the amount for, the description of the amount was ‘outstanding commission’. Her response was "Kindly be advised that outstanding commission is in reference to our collection fees. Please be advised that collections commission is charged per payment. As per the Collection Act we are entitled to charge these fees". I then advised that I do not dispute that they are entitled to a collection fee, what I would like to know is for which period it was for and I received no feedback regarding that. Further to that I noticed that my balance from the 27/09/2019 was R2640.01 and R103.50(collection commission) + R315.50 (O/S commission) when both added to that balance make it R3059.01 however I have a total outstanding balance of R3084.41 as at the 15/10/2019 can she kindly advise where the R25.40 comes from that took the balance to R3084.41? She simply responded by saying “Kindly note calculations are done systemically” I sent another email asking for the matter to be escalated to someone who can be able to assist me as she seem not bothered or willing to assist on the 16 October 2019 and I cannot just accept that as an answer, at the end of the day I am paying my account and would like to understand what these two fees are for and how they came about and since from then I have not received any communication back. Can I kindly request that someone intervenes and explains these amounts to me…

Good day Gaisano

Thank you for your complaint which we acknowledge and would love to address.

We refer to your  concerns regarding the Capfin account and confirm the account is indeed administered with our company in accordance with Annexure B of the Debt Collectors Act under "Expenses & Fees" more specifically Item 9 of the Annexure.

Kindly note item 9 does make reference to a fee of 10% required of the instalment (one or more) in redemption of the debt inclusive of instalments made directly to the client.

Item 9 along with Items 1-7 of the Annexure does make provision for the total amount to be recovered in respect of the Annexure.

We will be sending you an email, providing a detailed explanation on how our calculations are being done.

Hi

When was this sent? On your responds on the 24 Oct 2019 @ 12:15 you said and I quote " We will be sending you an email, providing a detailed explanation on how our calculations are being done." Since then I did not receive any email from yourselves... Please do not under estimate peoples intelligence, I am paying for this debt and I need to know where all these extra fees are coming from...
