Nothing special about Royal Buffalo Specialist Hospital

Not even deserving of 1 star. With a slogan on their phone line while waiting to be transferred of 'we give dignity back to our patients' you would expect atleast some service... We got NONE!!

My dad was taken to hospital earlier tonight (he is a quadraplegic with a history of a collapsed lung) with a temp of 38.6 and extreme shortness of breath.

The ambulance had to re-route from the nearest hospital as they were full with multiple ambulances waiting to be seen to and the next stop was Royal Buffalo Specialist.

Upon arrival there the medics went in to advise on their patient and just by them providing their info the Dr decided he wasn't seeing my dad and made a decision that its a cardiac issue bringing my dad to hospital. This decision was made based on the fact that the dr isn't a cardiologist nor did he assess my dad or even lay an eye on him.

When I phoned in and spoke to the Dr he had the audacity to ask me if im a Dr, obviously im not because if i were i wouldn't need him, however i know my dads situation and have been caring for him for 6.5years so should hope i know what the root of ill health if and when we encounter it.

I then phoned in again and spoke to the hospital charge, explained the situation and events to him and he said he would investigate and come back to me. He did... He said he explained to the Dr that the procedure is to assess a patient and asked the Dr if he had assessed the patient,to which he rep**** no he hadn't because the medic said he is stable. So i was just asked if i think im a dr( i who knows the situation and experiences all the challenges daily) yet he could make a decision to turn a patient away and deny him medical care based on the handover if a medic and his own assumptions.

Just because my dad was handed over as a cardiac patient(he had stents more than 8 years ago) the dr decided the issue is cardiac, nevermind he was brought in with shortness of breath and a very high temp, and sats of 38.6.

He has just been admitted to another hospital with Pneumonia.

Disappointed to the max!
