I was ****med by Trevor Midlane at Royal Hospital

On the 02 October 2025 I gave birth at Royal Buffalo Hospital in East London they were very nice and their care was satisfactory until this one guy came with socks and he didn't explain to me that I have to pay R1800 for them now it's jeopardising my credit profile I think they took advantage of my vulnerability I was ****med all in all lying down at hospital bed. I need urgent help I think the company for these socks is Trevor Midlane

Poor healthcare

This facility is pathetic, especially for a private facility. The nurses lack etiquette, care and basic human decency. Yesterday (12/07/2025) in the medical ward there were no gloves , the nurses were reusing/recycling gloves. The doctors don’t listen to the patient and what pain and discomfort they are experiencing, prescribed a lot of medication as thou to rake up claiming from the medical aid . In emergency…. I lack the ability to construct the sentences to describe how poor and inefficient the staff are . We needed another private healthcare facility in East London, but Royal Buffalo isn’t it, it is not worthy of being a private healthcare facility.

Very disappointed Royal Buffalo specialist hospital

To the Management Team, Royal Buffalo Specialist Hospital I am writing to provide formal feedback regarding my recent experience at your hospital from 16th May 2026 and not yet discharged in the pediatric ward. First, I would like to acknowledge that the emergency department staff were prompt and professional upon arrival. The medical support received at that stage was efficient and reassuring. However, my experience deteriorated significantly once we were admitted to the pediatric ward. The following concerns require your attention: *1. Communication and Professionalism* On admission, there was a discussion among staff at the entrance of the ward regarding bed availability and whether the ward had been contacted beforehand. This discussion took place in front of patients and parents. Such matters should be handled discreetly. As a parent, I was already concerned for my child’s wellbeing, and this made us feel unwelcome. *2. Lack of Orientation and Support* No guidance was provided on basic facilities, such as where to sterilize bottles and infant items. When I requested assistance, the response was dismissive, both verbally and through body language. I understand that only one parent is permitted to stay with the child, but occasional flexibility is needed when a child is distressed and a parent needs to step away briefly. *3. Basic Amenities* The self-service coffee facility for parents was not adequately maintained. For a three-day stay, I was able to have one cup of coffee due to a shortage of mugs and no clear system for replenishing them. *4. Meal Service and Dietary Needs* Breakfast for pediatric patients was served at 08:45, often when the child was too hungry and distressed to eat, and by that time the food was cold. When I requested a meat-free option, I was initially served ham and cheese, then chicken and mayo. Clearer attention to dietary requirements is needed. *5. Clinical Care and Hygiene* Vital signs were not consistently checked. Staff did not introduce themselves upon entering the room. In three days, bedding was changed only once, despite visible soiling from my child. This is unacceptable for a child who is already unwell. *6. Staff Conduct* When seeking assistance via the intercom, staff responded slowly and without urgency. A cleaning staff member also reprimanded me regarding nappy disposal, despite this policy not being communicated on admission. As a private hospital funded through medical aid, I expected a standard of care that reflects both clinical competence and compassion. The current approach does not meet that standard, particularly for vulnerable patients and their caregivers. I request that management review these issues with the pediatric ward team to ensure: - Patient and parent concerns are addressed professionally and discreetly. - Clear orientation is provided on admission. - Basic amenities and dietary needs are consistently managed. - Hygiene and clinical monitoring standards are maintained. I trust that this feedback will be taken seriously and used to improve the experience for future patients and families.
