Injury due to driver's recklessness ... and it is ok

We traveled to Johannesburg Thursday 22/10/20. Everything was fine and the trip quite enjoyable, unfortunately, we had to change busses in Heidelberg and the driver we got there was not very friendly.

The bus we got into was as hot as an oven as it stood in the sun with all the windows closed and the event was not switched on at all. So you can imagine the heat inside the bus. When we left Heidelburg to Johannesburg Park Station, there were quite a number of stops he did and while traveling he was speeding over two speed humps with the extend that the impact shot me right up in the air. After the first incident, I told my husband my back is hurting.

Friday I could feel my back is hurting, Saturday my back ached so badly that my sister in law has spent over R 500 getting me some medication, just to be able to walk. So needless to say, the long-expected weekend, turned out very miserable as my back was killing me. Unfortunately, I could not go to the doctor in Johannesburg, and Monday we were due to travel back to Pinetown. I had so much pain tablets just to numb the pain and be able to travel home.

Monday night I was actually crawling in my house as I could not walk without bursting out in tears of the pain. So yesterday, 27/10/20 my husband took me to the doctor, R 400 later. The result? With the airborne impact of landing back in the seat, I injured 3 of my lower back vertebra. As a result, I’m struggling to walk, my back is in constant pain, and the doctor warned me that this injury is going to take at least 6 weeks to get better.

So the total expense for this injury caused by the driver speeding over 2 speedbumps are as follows :

The medication my sister in law bought me - R 522.00 Doctor’s visit - R 400.00 Medication - R 115.00 Total expense - R 1 037.00

I may have to go for X-rays and seeking the help of a Chiropractor. I would like to know how Eagle Liner / Intercity Express is going to compensate me for these injuries and expenses.
