Eagle Liner must stop operations
Last night my wife tried booking a bus ticket online for my daughter who was supposed to travel to Johannesburg. The transaction went through and there was money deducted from her bank account showing that she had made a booking. However she didn't receive a confirmation email or SMS with from Intercape with booking booking reference as per the norm. She decided to call their call centre but none of the listed numbers went through ( we have proof of call log for all calls). She had been on the phone from 18:00 unit 20:30, including the time she was at the station.
By the time she managed to go through, the agent were of no help and were very arrogant. She decided to go to their offices at the Durban bus terminal for assistance, however the people on duty could not assist.
They did however try to call the call centre again, but the lady on the phone informed my wife they don't have a booking nor ref number for her. She then informed them and even showed the lady at the station that the payment went through, however the agent was arrogant and not helpful at all.
My wife requested a refund but she was told it is against company policy, which is very odd considering the people in the wrong is Intercape and not her. She requested to speak to the supervisor and but was told no refund. When she requested the names of the agent and the supervisor she was told her refund will take 30 or more before it can be processed, and she told them that wouldn't be a problem as long as she gets her money back.
To make matters even worse, the driver suggested that he will allow her in to the bus as he has 4 empty seats that were reserved for co-drivers provided she gives him R350. Driver told them they are supposed to be five drivers, however the other drivers are refusing to travel.
This suggests to me that the driver was willing to risk the lives of passangers just to make a quick buck.
