Eagle Liner – Completely Unacceptable Experience for an Outrageous Price
Date of Experience: 06/01/2026 I am utterly disappointed and angered by the shocking service I received from Eagle Liner. For a ticket that cost R845 (almost R1000), the experience was nowhere near what any passenger should have to endure. 1. Ridiculously Overpriced for a Bus With No Basic Amenities
The coach had:
No charging ports No toilet Windows that we left open and passengers had shout for the windows to be closed.
For a long‑distance trip, this is unacceptable. Cheaper bus companies offer far better amenities. Eagle Liner should not be charging premium rates for such sub‑standard conditions. 2. Zero Communication & Poorly Managed Stops The first stop was in Kokstad (Mount Curie). The driver gave no information about how long we would be there. Later, after a long stretch without any opportunity to buy food, we stopped again and were told we only had 10 minutes. Passengers were left confused, hungry, and uninformed — completely unprofessional. 3. Chaotic Depot Incident & Unregistered Bus At the depot, we were instructed to change buses. After preparing to offload, we were then told to get back onto the same bus with no explanation. To make the situation worse, it was mentioned that the bus was not even registered, and we were dropped outside Park Station, not at a proper terminal. This raises serious questions about safety and compliance. 4. Completely Inaccurate Travel Time & Unnecessary Delays We departed Matatiele at 17:00, and our estimated arrival time was supposed to be 03:30 AM. Instead, we only arrived after 06:00 AM. I understand that delays can happen due to weather or traffic — but there were none. The delay was caused purely by multiple unnecessary stops to pick up people along the way. These constant delays, combined with zero communication from the driver, show a complete disregard for passengers’ time and expectations. 5. Overall Verdict: ********** Value for Money For the price we paid, the experience was beyond unacceptable. Eagle Liner clearly does not prioritise passenger comfort and communication. If Eagle Liner cannot provide suitable, properly equipped buses for long‑distance travel, then they should remove these buses from operation altogether. I am extremely disappointed and will never use Eagle Liner again.
