I am writing to formally report a transporter who was contracted to deliver furniture to an auctioneer on my behalf. Part of the furniture has not been accounted for, and despite repeated requests, payment or explanation has not been provided.
I have supporting documentation, including messages, photographs, and details of the agreement, which I am happy to provide if required.
My main concern is preventing others from experiencing a similar situation. Could you share any steps that might help resolve this?
Thank you for your attention.
I’m writing to report that I was not paid for the task to sell my outstanding furniture to an actioner and have not yet been paid for. I employed Len’s Transport to move my furniture from Westville to Kloof. He also offered to sell the remaining furniture not required at the existing home. He undertook to transport this furniture to Cannon and Finlay Actioneers in Hilton. I paid him for transporting this furniture. H5 also committed to providing me with a list of all this furniture, but he never did. This incident happened on 11 December, 2025 when I employed Len’s Transporters, full details below; Len’s Transporters Proprietor, Mr. L.B. Groom (Len) Listed are the details he sent me; THE TRANSPORTER Contact Len *** e-mail *** Information from the website; 55 Richborough Rd, Clairwood,Durban 4052 *** *** I have many WhatsApps on record; On December 17 asked to send me a list of my furniture he undertook on my behalf as he committed. The response was that they are closed on 18 January,2026. On 19 January, 2026, I sent him a WhatsApp message and asked him to call me, but he never did. Eventually got a response with no date –‘Just got back, nothing as yet, will follow up in the weeks to come “ I have tried to phone Len, but he never answered. I received A WhatsApp from Len on saying that he is in Richard’s Bay on a SHUTHLE PROJECT till Monday, will revert. I tried to phone again, but did not take a call. I sent him a WhatsApp on 28 January, 2026, that if he did not respond by 20 February,2026 I was handed him to my attorneys for collet ion.. His response was that the furniture was damaged and been donated to Highway Hospice and as we have no storage space I am wasting time with attorneys. The above is untrue as our furniture was damaged in addition, my wife saw on the auctioneer’s website that ur furniture was for sale. I phoned Cannon and Finlay, Hilton, who confirmed that our furniture and Mr. Len Groom had been paid. On 17 February 2026 I sent him a WhatsApp for the proceeds less 20% commission, which we have agreed to. As I have had no response from Mr Groom I would like you to proceed to save any other member of the public from being taken for a similar ride. Please no not hesitate to contact me should you require any additional information. Many thanks, Kind regards, Barry Smith. 397 Greenhaven, 109 Padfield Road, Padfield Park, Pinetown 3610. *** I am writing to formally report a transporter who was contracted to deliver furniture to an auctioneer on my behalf.
