Appalling after sales service

I purchased a Dyson V15 Submarine. What a fantastic machine! The only issue I have is the battery doesn't last if you vacuum larger areas. BEFORE purchasing the V15, I called Dyson SA to confirm what the price is for a new battery directly from them. At the time of this review, it was R1890 ex VAT and shipping, whereas the retailers charge more than R3k. I went ahead and purchased the V15. I've been trying to get hold of the spare battery from Dyson SA for some time now. Dyson's main contact number goes through to Cape Town. They give you a Jhb number and transfer you. The Jhb number just rings non stop. Eventually someone answered the Jhb number and promised to get back to me with stock availability. I'm still waiting. I contacted Cape Town and asked them who I could escalate this to, considering that this service isn't acceptable for the price you pay for the vacuum. They couldn't help me, only offered to send me the battery from Cape Town for additional courier fees. If it is this hard to get a spare part, what horrors lie ahead if I ever need to repair the unit? I wondered if I could contact Dyson in the UK. To my dismay, their online reviews are just as bad. I realized that I made a huge mistake purchasing from this company. I was still within the return period of my purchase, so I sent the V15 back. I cannot take the risk of dealing with this level of service, especially when you consider the price. How can a product be this good and the after sales service be this dismal?
