“Inconvenient Visit with Unclear Subscription Terms

I recently visited Drive.co.za after being informed telephonically that there were vehicle options that aligned with my approval criteria and budget. Based on this information, I travelled to their premises, incurring personal transport costs.

Upon arrival, my experience was unfortunately disappointing. I was expecting a professional consultation but found the interaction lacking in professionalism. During my consultation, the representative was distracted and made multiple references unrelated to the service, which made the process feel unproductive and dismissive.

Additionally, I was informed on-site that the only available options were 24-month fixed contracts, which contradicted my understanding based on their advertised flexible subscription offerings. This discrepancy was not explained to me in a way that addressed my concerns, and my application was cancelled by their team during the visit.

As a paying customer who took time off and incurred transport expenses, I felt my concerns were not handled in a way that met reasonable customer service expectations. I had no resolution offered for the transport costs after the cancellation, nor did I receive any formal apology for the inconvenience caused.

This review is intended to share my personal experience with Drive.co.za, and I hope it helps other customers manage their expectations when visiting

Hi Andrew Rennie,

We are really sorry to hear about the incident.

Firstly, We have to correct you, you are not  a paying customer and have never been, we would have loved you as part of the drive team...

The facts that we have on hand are very different to your complaint.

As much as we would love every client to get ANY vehicle of their choice, we have to make decisions based on affordability. We cannot be a reckless business that only cares about making money, we are proudly Rated Number One and we still stand on the decision regarding the affordability on the specific vehicles you wanted.

1. A formal apology email was sent to yourself, please carefully check your e-mails.

2. We still stand by the decision not to re-imburse your travelling costs.  You were approved on a specific monthly limit, we cannot be held liable as you did not want the specific range of vehicles we offered.

We would love to help every customer with ANY vehicle they want, but WE HAVE to do the right and responsible thing as a business.

We welcome you with open arms to come get a vehicle with drive.co.za - BUT this will be based on the model we apply and not just any car you want,

Let me know if you keen to explore options, we are the best and really sorry you feel this way!

Regards

Peter

Reviewer Update
While I acknowledge your position, I’d like to clarify a few key points for accuracy:

1. Customer Status: While I may not have completed a transaction, I did engage your services under the assumption of an approved offering communicated telephonically. This is often the basis for trust and customer engagement — and travelling to your premises based on that information carries both time and cost commitments on my part.

2. Professionalism & Communication: My concern was not simply about affordability or vehicle choice, but about how the experience was handled. Being approved is one matter — but how clients are communicated with, treated in person, and guided through available options is another. My review highlighted the lack of professionalism and clarity during the visit, not just the outcome.

3. Subscription Model Clarity: Your platform advertises flexibility, yet the options presented to me contradicted that. A clear explanation on-site would have made a meaningful difference. Instead, I was left with a sense of confusion, which was compounded by the cancellation of my application without any further discussion or resolution.

The purpose of my review was not to discredit, but to share an honest account so others can make informed decisions. I accept that businesses must act responsibly, but I also believe customer experiences — especially those involving effort and expectations — deserve respectful and transparent handling.
