Dream Vacation is more a nightmare

My dad is a member of Dream Vacations. I paid off his points years ago. However, my dad has been paying levies every month for the last 15 years or so. I can safely say that this was the worst investment my dad ever made.

Save yourself from this company.

My dad is 70 years old. His children have to support him as he is a pensioner. He cannot afford to pay his levies of R500 a month. Dream Vacation very conveniently did not inform dad that his levies can be reduced by 50 % at the age of 65. When I queried them on it, I was simply told: "I cannot answer for someone before me" Will Dream Vacation reimburse him for the last 5 years? Not all dreams come true!!!!

I enquired about our exit options. Five ridiculous options!! I don't really call them options. They can offer us R5 a point but will take 9 months to sell them, in the interim you have to continue paying levies. So basically pay them an additional R2250 (remember Dad can now qualify for a reduced levie since he passed 65 five years ago). Is there any guarantee on the points being sold. Off course not. I asked Lebo from Retentions what happens if you can't sell the points. she rep****: Mam that has never happened. We have a good success rate! " If your success rate is so brilliant then why take 9 months to sell the points. Has Dream Vacations NOT taken even of our money over the last 15 years.

The most popular option is cancellation where you lose your membership completely. Lebo says: yes lots of people take that option" Well off course they will, because they are tired of being taken for a ride. They have no faith in DREAM VACATIONS. Dream Vacation will again benefit. People give back their hard earned points which Dream Vacation use to sell to the next " POOR customer"

I am really annoyed and disappointed with this company. Save your money and plan well to go on holiday. Its a much wiser decision.

Dear Ms. Misheer

We do regret that you feel that your father’s investment was the worst ever made. Our seniors option was implemented with effect January 2017 and all members were advised of such option in a letter dated 15 November 2016. A copy of such letter can be made available to you should you require this. In addition this matter was also reported on at the Club’s AGM on 29 November 2016 and at each subsequent AGM and minuted accordingly. The minutes of our AGM’s meetings are available on the Dream Vacation Club website. Dream Vacation Club believes in open and transparent business practices and we do believe that in terms of advising our members of the seniors option the club did the necessary to ensure that all our members were aware of the option.

As confirmed by Lebo in correspondence Dream Vacation Club offer several options to its members should they wish to exit the club the one option is the re-sell option referred to by you. Members wishing to re-sell their points are certainly not compelled do so through the club’s agent and are welcome to either sell point privately or through any other sales agent. Lebo was correct in her advices that the club has had great success over the years in assisting members to sell their points but as with the sale of any other property the process may take some time.

The option where members lose their membership completely is a last resort for those members who are in a dire financial predicament and whilst the club will offer such an option it benefits neither the member nor the club when this option is elected. As with any business losing a client is detrimental to such business and for the club to lose a member is no different. Dream Vacation Club is always open to discussion to address any member’s dissatisfaction with its service or product offering and as such we shall appreciate if you can supply us your father’s member number so that we can have a look at his membership and make contact with you or your ****her with a view of addressing your dissatisfaction.
