Cancellation of membership

I am very disappointed with Dream Vacations Club (DVC). We were mislead by a very convincing sales agent and signed up. we put down a deposit of r7000. we only used DVC once since 2014. We were always told the resorts are fully booked and we cannot book during easter weekend. We pay r1708,69 for membership and r700,83 for levies on a monthly basis. That is a lot of money which we cannot afford currently. All our levies and monthly subscriptions are paid to date. When contacting DVC they said we must sell the timeshare privately and they cannot do anything to help. How does a registered business operate like this? We do not want the deposit paid or any refunds on our monthly charges. We don't wish to make a profit on selling or cancellation. We are also not interested in the accumulated points we have. We soley want to terminate our membership so that we do not have any monthly payments as we can no longer afford it. I honestly hope this helps get me a positive feedback.
