Shoddy work
I had water and drain pipes replaced in my bathroom floor on 4 January 2013 before I had the floor retiled and wooden panelling done on the walls.<br> All was well for 18 months until I noticed dampness in the floors and walls which must have slowly been leaking through for many months.<br> <br> Plastic piping was used instead of copper piping. <br> <br> I called Drain surgeon on 12.11.14 and complained and was told there is only a 3 month guarantee. I was told that Berenice from service south would call, but she never did. <br> I requested a quote for repairs and the guys came out, but I never got a quote issued.<br> <br> I have subsequently have had to have all the tiles taken up and pay a decent plumber to replace the pipes again, not to mention the resultant damage to the panelling and the walls to be redone.<br> <br> Because of the inferior workmanship of Drain Surgeon I have had to spend more than R 10 000 redoing a bathroom that would have been fine if the job was done properly from the start.<br> <br> It leaves a bad taste that I as the consumer ends up out of pocket because of poor service and Drain Surgeon abdicates itself of any responsibility.<br>
The Drain Surgeon Head Office has investigated the above incident and would like to report the following:
Our Cape Town Franchisee did perform work as your premises approximately two years ago. Please not that they only worked on the shower section of your bathroom and not the entire bathroom.
PVC (Cobra Plastic) Piping was correctly used by our Franchisee, due to the acidity of the cement, copper /galvanised pipes would be the last choice due to corrosion.
Lastly, if you correctly recall, after the franchisee replaced the respective piping you opted to close the area yourself. It is extremely difficult to provided a guarantee on work we performed if not involved on the entire project i.e. were the pipes correctly/carefully closed up?
Please let us know if we can send out a manager to discuss the above in detail.
