Why Does Thrifty Do a Credit Check???

I made a reservation online. When I got to the branch to collect the vehicle I was told of a vetting process which included checking my credit score. Because I am on debt review, they would not give me the vehicle however they had already taken my payment online. I was told it would take 3 to 6 days for a refund. Please fast-track my refund, I need my money ASAP. It is a huge problem that this credit-checking is not made transparent when booking online, in fact it should be done online at the point of booking so that I do not waste my time going to the branch.
