************ swindling of deposit: ***
We took a rental car at the Hatfield Thrifty office on 02-05-2020 under agreement ***. We inspected the car and showed the lady that there was a scratch on the bumper. The car was returned after the agreed period and this is where the problems with Thrifty began.
The inspecting lady said we had put a scratch on the same bumper that we had said had a scratch on pick up. On the form she had apparently noted that the car had a scratch on the side yet the car had no such scratch which goes to show the incompetence. What did not make sense is that both her and the new manager there insist the car had a scratch on the side yet there is no such scratch and the scratch they now insist was new is one they did not mark correctly ab initio when we did the inspection.
As a matter of professional courtesy, we requested to see the documents of the immediate previous rental as this was at best ****gery in broad daylight but both the new manager and the inspecting lady refused.
Thrifty Hatfield has now proceeded and taken the full deposit from the account under the guise of this scratch. This is totally unacceptable and Thrifty should promptly refund this money with both the manager and the inspecting lady investigated for such ************ customer treatment.
The company should not and cannot cannibalise on the renter's deposit!
Two weeks onto the query and after an initial reply from Lebohang, there is absolute silence. Suffice it to say, whereas the matter can be easily engaged and resolved, there doesn't appear to be an urgency or willingness for that matter.
This protraction goes to show the ends to which the company appears to be willing to go just to cannibalize on a deposit which is very unprofessional for a service company.
