Thrifty - useless, couldn't care less company!

I rented a vehicle from their East London Airport office, for 1 day (05-06 August). On arrival at the desk, I was informed that I would need to pay a R6,000 deposit (for a rental of less than a R1,000). I reluctantly gave my bank card. I was told that the deposit would be released within a few days once the vehicle was returned.

It is now the 26th of August and the "deposit" / Holding deposit has not been released. I have spent the last week constantly on the phone, trying to get hold of anybody at thrifty that can assist in releasing the funds. I'm being sent from pillar to post, East London to JHB to CPT. The answers from Thrifty is either, "We don't deal with deposits, I'll put you through to X" or "Our system shows that the bank was notified a long time ago - speak to your bank". Thrifty absolutely refuses to let me speak to any manager regarding this. The bank (FNB) confirms daily that they have not received ANY instruction from Thrifty. The bank simply needs a letter from Thrifty to confirm the releases. Thrifty refuses to give me a letter. On Friday morning the 23rd, one lady from Thrifty told me not to worry, her Manager would sort this out immediately (but again, I am not allowed to speak to the manager). A phone call half an hour later stated "everything is sorted out - your balance should now show in your account". I'm still waiting. As a small business owner, I have now had to turn away work because I don't have access to that R6,000 float which I desperately need. One thing is for sure, I will never use this company ever again, and I will advise whoever has an ear to listen - to avoid them completely!
