Thrifty Car Hire - If you are behind with your clothes account payment, DO NOT hire a car with Thrifty, they will disappoint you at the counter!!!

On the 9th December, I wanted to do a long term car hire so I could enjoy my holidays. I was excited to find out that as an employee for some company, we have special rates with Thrifty. I sent email to thrifty and Sabeehah Hassen sent me the Reservation with very good rates. At the bottom of the email it read "Please note that an ITC Check will be done on all renters upon collection at the counter." That's where my frustration came. Imagine having your luggage and being excited with family, to collect the vehicle , only to be told at the counter that you will not get the vehicle because you are behind with your Markhams account! I really do not understand why are they conducting credit checks while I am not applying for credit. Is this even legal? Anyway I called head office to do those checks before collection day, to avoid disappointments, and they said I do not qualify. Imagine if I had already paid, it would be another days wait for a refund. So be careful, if you are behind with your bank loan, clothes account etc., you will be disappointed at the thrifty counter! My advise to thrifty: Put this credit checking in the system to happen automatically with reservation/quotation, so that you do not give us false hope that the reservation is successful.
