*****ing money from renters accounts.
I rented a car from Thrifty at the Cape Town airport over 2 weeks ago. They took their R4000 deposit for the rental. I paid for the rental and took out tire and windscreen cover. On returning the car I filled up at the airport just before drop off.
A few hours after drop of an additional R3081 was deducted from my account. I have tried for the last 2 weeks to get to the bottom of why this additonal amount was deducted from my account while the initial deposit is still outstanding aswell. Three days after the deduction was made I received an email to say a claim was lodged with a person called Debbie with no details as to what the claim is for. I contacted Debbie to ask what is was about she said she hasn't received the paperwork yet and she doesn't know either. I have mailed her again in the mean time with still no answer or resolution.
I have emailed all the emails I could get my hands on and on calling the branch the phone gets put down in your ear when you inquire about the fees. If damages occured, which to my knowledge I returned the car in the same condition as I collected it in. Surely you have to be informed what happend before they can just deduct money from your account. Surely the deposit should be used to cover the damages that occured as that is what it is reserved for. Yet here I am over 2 weeks later with no answers and over R7000 missing from my account. Can I report this company for theft? Since they have taken money from my account with no reasons given and also have not yet returned my deposit also with no reasons given.
I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a vompony to reply with in 10 working days on a query and to resolve an account with in 10 working days how long will they keep my money with no reason or is it their intent to steel over R7000 from me and I should move to make a case against them?
