Shifty Thrifty

<p>We arrived at Cape Town airport on 27th Dec to collect a pre paid car from Thrifty car rental . We had booked the car with Atlas Choice , a UK agent you had booked the vehicle with their Cape Town partner Thrifty . </p> <p>On arrival they had our booking and car ready but we were told by Thrifty that Atlas Choice has gone into Bankruptcy and that Thrifty were not accepting anymore vouchers from this company and we would have to pay again despite us having paid upfront. </p> <p>This was not good news but more bad news was to follow . Thrifty then gave us a revised price of more than Double what we had paid to Atlas Choice . We protested but was told to take it up with their head office. </p> <p>There were 8 of us just off a long haul flight so we reluctantly paid and took the mini bus we had booked. </p> <p>The next day I wrote to Thrifty customer care dept explaining they were charging us more than double the price we paid Atlas reminding them they must have agreed an even lower price with Atlas so the least they could do was honour the price we paid paid Atlas. </p> <p>They agreed to discuss it with their 'senior ' management and after 2 days came back and refused to lower the price they had charged .</p> <p>This is a case of a company taking total advantage of a good customer in difficult circumstance and profiteering from the situation ! </p> <p>I have now had to pay 3 times the original price we paid to Atlas .</p> <p>To make things worse we got another telephone quote from Thrifty over the phone from a different office for the same vehicle and terms and it was cheaper than they charged us . Disgraceful ! </p> <p>I have just returned the car after 3 days only as I had to wait 2 days for their reply and have now rented the same car on the same terms at almost the same price we paid originally to Atlas with Avis ! </p> <p>I have also emailed them 3 times for them to confirm to me in writing that they have NOT been paid by Atlas choice for our Vehicle. They have failed to reply so I suspect they have been paid in which case our lawyer said it maybe a case of ***** which we are now pursuing ! </p> <p>These guys are not a reputable company </p> <p>take my advice and avoid them ! </p> <p> </p> <p>Happy Holidays ! </p>
