****? Thrifty is keeping about R10,000 of our money *******y. We will take legal action against them. Do not rent any car with them.
We made a trip from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town from the 11th to the 20th December 2020.
We rented a car with a baby chair online with Thrifty at Port Elizabeth branch (the worst decision we ever made).
When we arrived at Port Elizabeth Thrifty charged us twice for the rent of the same car (a mistake? I doubt it). It was me who rented the car online. However I was not carrying my driving licence with me. Thrifty knew that, but Thrifty charged me the whole price for the rent of the car and the deposit (let´s keep somebody else money). Then Thrifty staff told us that unfortunately we could not use the car because I did not have my driving licence with me and that I will receive the money back in the following week). So my friend had to pay for the rent of the same car plus the deposit. As of yet, either of us have received our money back.
Besides, when we arrived in Port Elizabeth Thrifty gave us a broken baby chair, that we refused to use. They Thrifty provided us with a baby chair that did not fix to the car (it moved front, back, left and right). It was Thrifty staff, not us who tried to fix the baby chair to the car, but they were not able to do so, because the baby chair was not right. Then Thrifty staff tried with a another baby chair, but it was not safe either. It took Thrifty staff about three, yes three hours to try to fix both baby chairs to the car. And yes, we lost three, I repeat, three hours of our holidays at the airport. We were of course stressed when we were supposed to be relaxed. All because of Thrifty.
As Thrifty was not able to offer us a solution, I had to buy a new baby chair for my son. Thrifty staff at Port Elizabeth branch told us that they were going to inform Thrifty branch in Cape Town, so when we will arrive there, we will be refunded for the baby chair.
However when we arrived to Thrifty branch in Cape Town, Thrifty staff was not aware of anything (that is not professional either). In any case we were told that they will keep the baby chair and that we would be refunded for it. We flew back to Pretoria without the baby chair and two days later I received an email from Thrifty telling me that they were going to refund me R500 for the baby chair when I paid R1,700 for it (and they do know it as they have a copy of the ticket).
So I claimed the baby chair, of course. Thrifty engaged to send me the baby chair to Pretoria, so I will receive it last Monday 28th December. Guess what? Yes, I have not received the baby chair, nor has Thrifty refund me the money or rep**** to my emails asking for the tracking number of the shipping (another mistake? I doubt it).
Furthermore, Thrifty charged my friend three times, yes, three times, instead of once, for the extra kilometres that we made. In fact, Thrifty charged R698,11 three times to my friend, when Thrifty told us that it was only R698,11. Of course, Thrifty has not answered to our email asking why they have charged my friend three times that amount of money. And maybe a cross border for R144.
So, Thrifty is keeping *******ly about more than R10,000 of our money. Of course, we are not going to tolerate that. Not only are we going to take legal action against Thrifty, but we are also going to inform the Government so I hope Thrifty licence to operate in South Africa will revised.

I have received the baby chair (thanks), but not the money (R5,473) that you charged me on the 11th December at Thrifty branch in Port Elizabeth. You charged me once although you knew that I did not have my driving licence with me and then you charged my friend for the same car.
I want my money back, that is for sure.
Nor my friend neither me have received the R500 as compensation for inconvinience.

Cristina
