Not returning deposit/ holding money

The online booking and picking up of the car was a really good experience. The staff are friendly. The rental prices are reasonable and affordable. Unfortunately the car was not properly clean when I picked it up, but nothing that will hinder me to use the car.

The trouble comes when they have to release the hold they put they put on your credit card after you returned the car. They say it will be released within 7 days. On the 8th day it was still not released. When you phone the national number they continue to put you on hold and don't get back to you. I had to go to the Pretoria branch to get it sorted. Only when I was in the branch, they started the process to lift the hold

While I was picking up the rental, another customer had exactly the same issue and they assured me that it is just a fluke.

I would give them a 4 star rating if the hold wasn't a problem.

If you are looking for a rental company that has reasonable prices and you can live/ deal with the bad after care services that doesn't release the hold, this is the place to go.

Upon investigation, Thrifty realised they didn't place a hold on my card but deducted the money. They decided not to directly refund the money, but to do a card machine reversal, which they said will take 1-3 days to reflect. 3 days later still no money.
