Holding deposit not returned
Like others who have reviewed Dollar Thrifty I too have an issue with the return of deposit paid on the rentals. The information I receive from Dollar Thrifty is that the deposit has been released, along with reference numbers etc, which makes it all appear legitimate. They also state that, the deposit will not reflect as a credit or refund, however they can also not provide any proof of payment for the release of the deposit. With this lack of information it is impossible to refer the issue to my own bank for follow up.

We're sorry to see that your experience with us was a negative one.
Thrifty Car Rental does request a release for all deposits within 24 hours of a rental return and closing thereof, however, the bank then captures/facilitates and manages the release of the deposit.

Thrifty Car Rental does request a release for all deposits within 24 hours of a rental return and closing thereof, however, the bank then captures/facilitates and manages the release of the deposit.
We as a merchant are subject to the banking laws of South Africa as well as their processes of which we, unfortunately, have no control over and therefore the duration of the release of the deposit can take between 7 working days depending on the bank for local/national customers and 14 – 21 working days for international customers.
We are kindly requesting and urging the customer to follow up with their bank directly, as the customer's bank will not divulge any information to Thrifty and rightfully so due to personal and security reasons to their customer.
