Failing to return a deposit 2 MONTHS down the line. NEVER AGAIN!!!

On the 20th of February we hired a car from Thrifty at the Cape Town airport. We do not have a credit card, so asked if we could use our debit card, which they were all too happy to accommodate us with (largely the reason we used them). We put down a R6000 deposit for this. After having the car for the week we returned it, with a full tank of fuel and in the same condition as we received it in, at the Cape Town airport. The service up until this point was fine. Now, almost 2 months down the line we have not seen a trace of that deposit. We have emailed on a number of occasions with only 1 response from Thrifty - typical delay tactics. We are now very close to taking legal action, as this is down right theft!! To read other reviews on this site saying pretty much the same thing is not a shock at all. This is clearly how they run their business. I only wish I had looked here before booking a car through them. Never again will we use them for car hire, and I will make sure that anyone looking for a car hire is not fleeced of their money by using any Thrifty Car Rental. Ben Grobler
