Extended our mileage upfront when paying and then still charged for additional mileage after

When reviewing the paperwork to collect our car in Durban we noticed we only had 100kms per day. We asked the attendant helping us if we could extend it to 200kms per day and paid the extra amount before getting the car. A day or so after we had returned the car we saw we had been charged more than R500 extra, on top of the normal fuel charges, which they claim was for extra mileage. We rented the car for 3 days so we were entitled to do ****ms without additional charges. We only did 549kms.

We contacted them to explain the error. They only responded to the first email to say that it was for extra mileage and that they have attached an invoice. The invoice was either blocked or was never sent attachment. We have sent them subsequent emails but not received any further response nor have they refunded us.

Dollar Thrifty can clearly see the two charges on the day we collected the car, the second one for the extra mileage, but seem to be more interseted in making a quick buck than retaining a client. Rather use the another car rental company. Dollar Thrifty's customer service is terrible.
