DOLLAR THRIFTY CAR RENTAL WILL **** YOU

It is disgusting to witness the level of disrespect a company like Thrifty can inflict upon a black man. I do not say this lightly.

Several days ago, I came to Lanseria Airport and booked a bakkie for a trip to Capetown for a work project. I gave them my driver's license and credit and they billed me for the car. I was scheduled to come pick it up at 10 pm the night before as that was the only option they could give me.

But upon arriving to pick up my car at 10 pm the night before leaving, they suddenly checked my credit score and deemed me too low to allow the release of the vehicle. To add insult to injury, they seemed to blame me for making them take my money.

I asked them if their system could not check who, where and when the booking was made. They had no information at all. Had I not had my invoice, I suspect they would claim I made the whole encounter up.

When I asked them to refund the money they took, they said they could not do it, it would have to be emailed to their head office for query and the process would only commence on Monday the following week.

I asked for a number, a name, anything in order to track the refund process. They had nothing for me but promised to cc me in the email. I gave them my email, went home, and--surprise surprise, no email.

No apology, no recourse, no solution. This is an international company that claims to have excellent customer service. Come Monday, I will no doubt, have the pleasure of proving that anything happened at all.

All this is an outline of the costs of renting a vehicle from them. It does not take into account that I have to use more money to source last minute expensive transport for myself and my goods, I have to cancel other bookings I have made and I have to apologize to my clients without losing their support.

Do not trust Thrifty as they only care about your money and not the service they provide. they keep no records of a sale nor do they have a system to track refunds.

THRIFTY CAR RENTAL WILL **** YOU AND I PLEA TO SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS TO STOP DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM TO AVOID SUCH.
