Dollar Thrifty Car Rental Cars NOT Insured???

<p>I rented a Quantum with Dollar Thrifty Car Rentals in from 15-19 December 2016, upon returning the vehicle on the 19th December 2016 there were damages to the car bumper caused by dogs that bit the bumper.</p> <p> </p> <p>I returned the car as it was to the dealer and my deposit money was withheld following the incident. I just got a call today 13th March 2017 at about 09h54 and email from the recoveries departments of Thrifty trying to recover the ramainder of the total damages amount, and to my suprise the letter is dated 26th January 2017 for which I was to lodge a complain within 7 days of receipt of the letter.</p> <p> </p> <p>I asked who is suppopsed to insure the rented car since it is not even registered in my names? to which I did not get a clear answer...and I have some more questions:</p> <p> </p> <p>1- Isn't the rental company supposed to insure their fleet?</p> <p>2- Why was i not told to insure the rented car?</p> <p>3- How was I to insure a car that is not even registered in my name?</p> <p>4- Why was I not given an opportunity to remedy/repair the damages myself?</p> <p>5- Why is there only (1) one quotation for the rapair of the damages instead of at least (3) three?</p> <p> </p> <p>I ask all this Questions because I was only told of the Windscreen and Tyre protection which I took cover for though they were included as standard in the booking quote I received from the company.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
