Do not rent from Thrifty Cape Town, South Africa
Rented from the Thrifty in Cape Town, Sought Africa in April 2019. We got a flat tire while traveling, but I have insurance coverage through my credit card. I just need some documentation from the Thrifty Cape Town branch to process my claim within 90 days of the flat tire. Thrifty was quick to charge me for the flat tire, but they were VERY UNRESPONSIVE to my requests for documentation. I called multiple times and spoke with Mr. Hardwick Stander once. He told told me that he would send my the required documentation within a week. I never heard back from him, so I emailed him on April 24th, May 5, and May 21st with no response. I also called on May 17th and spoke to another representative- Nishat (not sure if I am spelling that correctly). She also told me that she would email me the documents I needed the next day and I never heard back from her. Then I finally filed a report with the Thrifty/Hertz corporate office due to this branch's unresponsiveness. The corporate office got back to me saying that they have also not been able to get a response from the Cape Town branch. So basically I missed my 90 day window to process my claim with my credit card company because I never heard back from Thrifty, so I was charged the cost of the tire (about $100) and the cost to cover all of the international phone calls I made to their office to try to get the documentation. What is the point of having insurance if Thrifty is not going to provide me the documentation I need to file my claim.
