Customer Care Dept. (It should rather be called “The We Don’t Care Dept”)

I rented a car from Thrifty at ORTIA in April 2021 and upon returning the vehicle I went to the trouble of having the petrol tank refilled at the Engen Sky Stop at the airport. When I returned it I showed the Thrifty official the receipt and she confirmed verbally to me that they didn’t need it and checked the fuel gauge on the dash and agreed that the tank was full. I then received a debit on my credit card for R95.83 as a “refueling charge”. After initially just having emails ignored in which I explained what I have set out herein, I was told that they automatically refuel the vehicles and under 3litres, they don’t charge the client, but over that, they do, plus an additional fee of 10%. After numerous emails I have not been able to get satisfaction - if my vehicle was 3 litres “short” it would have had to travel at least 20 to 30 Kms. Given how close the Engen Sky Stop is to the airport, that’s highly improbable, unless someone used the vehicle - or it’s just a convenient way to ******* the client with no way for the client to prove otherwise - I have asked for proof of the refueling, but in typical fashion, my request has been completely ignored by the Branch Manager and the Customer Care Dept. (It should rather be called “The We Don’t Care Dept”)
