Cars are not inspected infront of clients

I hired a car on Friday at OR Tambo and indicated that I will return the car at King Shaka airport at Durban. My issues are that the car wasn’t inspected infront of me, I was only told where to find the car. I am being told the car was inspected at the depo and there is no proof that the car was inspected when it arrived the airport therefore the car wasn’t inspected before being given to me. Anything could have happened from the depo to the airport and I cannot take responsibility for something I have no knowledge of. The car has a scratch on the bumper and that had been noted as a surface chip on their inspection sheet. That doesn’t make sense to me how a scratch will happen to be exactly were it has been indicated as a surface chip and now I have to pay for it. The fact that the car wasn’t inspected infront of me already is a red flag, proper procedures where not followed before I was given the car.
