Car offered with no basic secure storage!

<p>So I booked a basic car ( through a UK agency) for nearly a month. Picked up the car this morning, some small scratches / windscreen chips but nothing terrible. I only noticed when I got back to where I'm staying, that the boot is completely open to view, and there isn't even a secure glove compartment. I phone Thrifty straight away only to be told there's nothing that they can do, I "inspected" the car and the airport and should have spotted the lack of security. I explained that I had briefly inspected the car with the operator but had (naturally enough) assumed that the car would come with some BASIC security, like a covered boot! Particularly in a country with such high crime rates as SA. Essentially i was told that there was nothing they could do short of CANCELLING the contract,(and presumably losing my fees already paid) and starting a completely NEW booking for a better, more secure car. Otherwise I could try contacting the UK agency to see what they could do. I spoke to a supervisor, I was basically told the same. Nothing could be done etc, etc. I told her I would write a bad review of the company. I think it is unacceptable to offer cars for hire which don't have minimal security, this seems to me to be blindingly obvious! I subsequently received a call offering an upgrade for roughly 250 EURO (107 rand a day) which I have no intention of paying. Shocking level of service, I really felt like no one could care less. I've used Thrifty before, but this will be the last time. I don't expect to be driving a BMW but I think it's utterly reasonable to expect a car with basic security . </p>
