Avoid doing business with Discovery on absolutely any level. Hi my name is R Hendricks. my ex wife sadly passed on and she was survived by our only son. our son was unfortunately arrested and locked up in jail in February 2020 and his mom passed away in march same year, with him still behind bars till present. She did leave behind a pension fund that my son could claim on as he was the sole dependent on her when she passed on. My son then gave me signing powers to submit claim with discovery urgently, so that he could obtain monies to get himself legal representation and subsequently released from prison. I Humbly begged Discovery to release a small portion of the R396000.00 but they refused due to protocol, I understood. I Told my son that he would have to include his daughter of at least a 25% share of payout and have that re invested or fixed until she obtains the age of 18, she is 3 years. he agreed. i proceeded to mention the agreed upon split of payment to discovery, who then tabled a REDICULOUS pay out offer of My son 25% and his daughter 75%. I refuted this claim and asked discovery who gave them the right to distribute other peoples monies as they see fit...they then came with a revised offer of son 50% and his daughter 50% which we then obviously referred to the pension fund administrators, who said the matter could take up to a year to get a decision. we were forced with our backs to the wall, and caved in on the absurd and persistent attitude from discovery to split sum assured 50 50. Discovery insisted that my sons daughter was solely dependent on my sons mother at her time of death. Even after proving to them that she was not dependent on my sons mother by supplying her brothers contact details discovery persistently insists on paying 50 % to family member that was not solely dependent on her. there is no way to call in to discuss matters and have clarification prevail over matters and not their (Discovery) rotten or ill decision on other peoples money. My son is still in prison, we cannot afford the legal fees out of our pockets, and Discovery found every reason to drag the process and cannot be bothered about my sons situation, and yet still they play God over his mothers hard earned sweat and they will decide who gets paid and who don't out of the Sum Assured. my son has attempted suicide while in prison. and thank you to discovery he has been ****d and is now HIV positive!!! Thank you discovery give yourself a mighty pat on the back for having destroyed and or disrupted lives because of you wanting to play God over other peoples money...Disgusting is what you are!!!!
