Warning to SA foreign workers

I thought I would share this experience of Discovery bank with anyone from SA earning a salary outside of SA.

They do not understand the concept of being earning a salary and being taxed outside of SA and will apply foreign taxes and other statutory contributions you declared in the application to your NET salary, effectively making it a net net salary.

They have some place where they get your "verified salary", this is not from your pay sheets, contract, bank statements or from SARS, in my case it was almost 50% less than my actual salary.

They calculated my disposable income to be NEGATIVE R13k, however my credit score is over 690, this should have automatically started ringing alarm bells with them that something is not correct.

Their credit team is very inexperienced in dealing with salaries that are not earned in SA, so I suggest you find another bank as this will always be an issue when you deal with them.
