WAIT IN LINE FOR YOU MONEY IF YOU CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT WITH DISCOVERY BANK.

On 29 August I contacted Discovery Bank to close my account. On 30 August, I received a notification my account is being closed. On 2nd September I received 2 pieces of communication advising account closure and requesting banking details. On 2nd September, I sent the requested information. on 4 September I received Confirmation of Account Closure and Card Cancelled (I never had a physical care) Today 11 September there is still no sign or access to my money. I wonder if it is ******* to take someone's money, keep it in your account and then hand it over at any point in the future probably under the guise of "Company Policy and Processes". There was a time when I walked into a bank, handed over my bank book and they gave me my money in fifteen minutes. Today, my money is with discovery from 29 August with no access to it. BUT, then, this is the typical 2nd hand service I have come to expect from Discovery. Prior to this, Discovery Insure debited my account "in error" - problem, "computer error". PLEASE do not offer a lame apology.

Dear Nosisa,
Apologies mean nothing when 18 days later the money is not in my account neither is your working "tirelessly" meaningful 4 days since the apology there is no sign of the money. Lets turn the tables and I owed you money, I would be paying admin charges, service fees and interest on the outstanding money. Then you bring the big guns, "debt collectors" with their charges and fees to collect the R1400. Now it is my turn to bill you R350 for admin fees, emails, phone calls and interest at prime + 5% for not returning. my money. That payment with charges would not be an apology and rather what you are free to do is equally free for me to do when DISCOVERY BANK messes.
Lastly, your 2nd hand service for the fees we pay to make up salaries is in keeping with the standard we have become used to. We celebrate mediocrity when people do the job they are paid for.

Hi Sandy,

Our Operations Team is currently looking into processing the refund as there were technical issues with the automated refund during account closure. The reason why this is still ongoing is that it requires the re-opening of the account that was closed. The account has been set up, so the refund should be processed soon. Please await correspondence from the Operations team regarding this matter.

Kind regards,
Nosisa

So what happens in the meantime. I need my money because I am paying bank charges and overdraft fees because of the failure of your bank. There are not technical issues. It is the failure of people to understand the system. Do you really think the client cares about your technical issues on closing the account. Just give me my money and do you paperwork over the next 18 days.

I demand expenses and interest. This is unacceptable that I am having to pay overdraft charges because of DSCOVERY BANK inefficiencies.
Just to add the icing on top, it took 3 months to open the account. Any guesses? Difficult question. TECHNICAL ISSUES. Common thread neh! Discovery Insure messed me around when I cancelled my policy. You are the next lot in the same technical BS. Maybe I should start a #NotDiscoveryBank?

I am not expecting any joy from the bank with technical issues. We can consider this communication closed, especially because you have not had the courtesy to even privately email me on the status of my refund. Pathetic. The issue has been logged with the Financial Ombud and we can deal with it there.
