Vitality Money Rewards Encourages IRRESPONSIBLE spending!
The vitality rewards 3.0 are a joke! As long as I meet my weekly spending goal, the next week's spending goal is MORE! Is there a maximum or will you keep increasing it indefinitely? Your program claims to promote responsible spending behaviour! The goal you give me does not consider my monthly spending to date, or my budget, only whether I met my previous week's spending goal! I could have overspent my monthly budget by 100% and you will still set an increased spending goal for the week? How by any stretch of the imagination is this encouraging healthy spending behaviour?!? So now you set me impossible, aka reckless spending targets, which will cause me to fail to achieve my banking goals and you will charge me for my "free" iPhone! I understand that you want your customers to use their credit cards because it makes you money! But don't LIE and call it HEALTHY RESPONSIBLE spending!
At Discovery, we take responsible spending seriously, and our Vitality programmes and benefits are designed to promote responsible behaviour. Vitality Active Rewards is designed to encourage consistent behaviour each week, while Vitality Money discourages irresponsible spending.
Regards
AJ

You are not addressing the issue that if I have already blown my monthly budget on an unexpected expense, your weekly goal will still require me to spend R5,000 on my credit card for the following week. I will choose to responsibly to spend at little as possible and will only spend on the essentials which could result in zero spending for the week. However, this actual responsible behaviour will result in your penalizing me with no bank play for the week and a charge for my Iphone at the end of the month!
Setting my goal on my spending history (ie, if I spent lots, increase the goal) and nothing at all on what I have spent month-to-date vs my month's budget is completely irresponsible!
How can you equate exercising more or driving defensively with bashing the credit card more and more as all being "healthy" behaviours?
