Vitality Money 3.0 is such a *******
I have been a loyal Discovery Bank and Vitality Money member for some years now, and I have never experienced such a **** as Vitality Money 3.0, and based on this I would not recommend the product to anyone.
A few weeks ago Discovery Vitality Money 3.0 was launched and I was so excited about the new enhancements until I experienced what it really meant.
One of the biggest changes Vitality Money 3.0 has made is that you get a point towards your goal for every R10 you spend, and my goal for the first week of launch was 50 points(so R500 spend goal on my credit card). I made a very big purchase for something I had been saving up for months, so I went well over my spend goal for that week, but my weekly goal increased from 50 to 150 (so a R1000 spend increase from R500 to R1500 spend). The week after that I did my groceries and again went well over my spend goal, but my spend goal again increased by a further 100 points to 250 points weekly goal, so now I would have to spend R2500 per week on my credit card to achieve my goal??? What the hell??? There is no way I can afford this? My credit card limit with discover bank is R20,000, so I would used up all of my credit in 4 weeks? Is this what discovery is trying to promote, the usage of their credit card by irresponsibly spending your credit?
I queried this with discovery bank (Vitality Money) and I was told that my goal would reduce after 2 weeks if I didn’t achieve it. It has now been 3 weeks that I have not achieved my spend goal(because I can’t afford to) and my goal is still at 250. I called discovery again yesterday and they changed their story and I was now told that it would reduce after 4 weeks of not achieving my goal, and when I asked by how much it would reduce by I was told 50 points and I would have to wait another 4 weeks for it to reduce by another 50 points.
So it took discovery 2 weeks to increase my spend goal from R500 to R2500 but I have to not achieve my spend goal for 16 weeks for my spend goal to reduce back to 500 points? Seems unreasonable to me.
This seems like Discovery is trying to ensure that you don’t achieve your goals so can earn as little discovery miles as possible, on an “enhanced” program they claim is more rewarding than ever.
THIS IS A *******
