Very Disappointed!!!

After months of struggling with both my savings account from Bank A & credit card from Bank B, Discovery Bank enters the fray with an AMAZING financial service offering. With their beautifully designed website and Apple collaboration, I was sold. And that was not the end of how they will change how we bank in the future. All good **** as my dear friend would say! I was excited to make the move and consolidate my finances and enjoy their unique offering.

But then came the application and a long story short, I was rejected. That despite the current global situation & that I'm in the top 10% income bracket of SA, if not top 5%. I asked the consultant several questions and just a generic & repeated answer back. When I challenged him on that, there was a silence. And then followed the inevitable sorry sorry sorry. I have to note I've taken a pay cut due to the pandemic, and after asking the consultant how they looked at my application, I got to understand they only look at the last month's income. Why then ask me for 3 months bank statements and payslips? Mind you I sent through my history of the last 5 months.

I've come to the realization, that Discovery Bank is just another bank dressed with a beautifully designed website. And the presentation of how they are going to help you depends entirely on what they get out of it. You are just a number on a screen and a computer calculates what you are worth, taking into consideration what they as an organization deem if value... for them.

A sad day indeed!
