Useless bank
I opened a discovery bank to try it out first before transferring all my debit orders and payment of salary. I then passed it since the banking charges were becoming too much for an account that has no activity. I only learned months later that pausing is only for the card and doesn't exempt me from monthly charges. This doesn't even make sense that you can pause a card against any usage but still be liable for monthly charges for the very same card that you not using. I had medical aid payments going in and were taken by bank charges so I'm now liable for doctors payments.

11 Jan 2023, 17:58Hi Zenzele
Thanks for reaching out to us.
As per the Terms and Conditions that you agreed to when applying for the bank account, section B.88 states that you must pay us the monthly account fee whether or not you use the account.
We see that your monthly account fees has been accumulating with no payment into the account, when you made the two EFT payments into the account it automatically covers the outstanding balance in the account.
Regards
Beatrice.
