Unfair SAFPS Listing
Early this year, I tried to apply for a clothing account and was told that my ID has been listed on SAFPS. I was advised to contact SAFPS, which disclosed that Discovery Bank has listed my ID for "trying to open a bank account using *****ulent documents".
This is very strange because I was a Discovery Bank's Client for a good number of years. Their account opening process is a Home Affairs biometric verification where you take a photo using your front camera, and proof of residence (which was a Capitec bank statement). I successfully passed these two vetting procedures, hence they were able to offer me their bank account facility which I enjoyed for a good number of years. Had I failed their vetting, this would not have been possible.
Additionally, I have never tried to open any other facility with them besides a transactional account, which they approved. Their listing is therefore null & void, unless there is a case of Identity Theft which I am not aware of.
My decision to close my Discovery Bank account was only after an incident where my bag was ****** which had my laptop, phone, ID document and Passport. The ********s were able to successfully login to the App and ***** my money. Upon raising this issue with Discovery and questioning the security of their online/mobile facilities, I was sent from pillar to post. I immediately cut all ties with the bank.
I have been contacting and emailing their ***** department but received no assistance. No communication via email, and whenever I call, I'm told to send an email and their Case Manager will get back to me. This has been happening for almost 12 months now.
I need Discovery Bank to remove my name on the SAFPS Database.
