Think Twice

Discovery Bank brands itself as a behavioural bank who encourages its clients to SPEND WISELY, when infact they are encouraging quite the opposite. They will raise your spend goals weekly, until it is just not feasable to try and reach that goal, because you will end up spending more money than you intended on a weekly basis, and eventually drive you to debt. All to reach rediculously set spend goals, to get your iPhone or whatever reward. This is not going to help anyone to be in a better financial position.

NOT A BANK THAT WANTS TO SEE YOU GROW YOUR MONEY. I already miss my FNB.

Hi Jean-Pierre

Our Vitality programmes and benefits are designed to promote responsible behaviour.

Vitality Active Rewards encourages consistent behaviour each week, and Vitality Money discourages irresponsible spending.

Through the Vitality Money Financial Analyser, we can help you manage your money better by automatically categorising your transactions, creating budgets and mini-budgets, and setting alerts to help you meet your budget.

You can use this tool to make sure that don’t spend more of your disposable income than you can responsibly afford.

Your Spend goal is only unlocked if you maintain a minimum savings account balance.

The Spend goal rewards you for consolidating your spend within Discovery Bank.

The Spend goal follows the same principles app**** with your Exercise and Drive goals, where your personal goal target is personalised based on your previous weeks’ achievement history.

The Spend goal vary based on the average spend expected at your income level, based on whether you’re a Gold, Platinum, Black, or Purple client, or have a Discovery Account.

These amounts are in line with the qualifying spend already app**** for all your other Vitality Money dynamic lifestyle, travel, and integration rewards.

Regards
Beatrice.

Thanks Beatrice. I see there was another complaint before me about the same issue, and the answers where literally copy and paste identical, from 2 different people, a Nicolene and yourself.
Shows to me that our concerns are not really being heard.

But anyway, I'm sure you will have many more complaints about this exact same issue, and clients leaving.

The spend goal is bad behavior encouragement, and simply unattainable. No one wants to spend more than half their salary on card swipes. That will cause people to have less money for saving, less money for investing, and on top of all that, many many divorces.

Rather change the vitality money active reward, to encourage saving and investing, or sticking to your own set budgets, like I said before. THAT would be encouraging GOOD banking behaviour.

I was very excited to join Discovery and all the Vitality programs, so I moved my medical aid, my bank, and in process of changing to Discovery Insure all in 1 month.
I like reaching goals and being encouraged, like the fitness, and the good driving. Those a brilliant. But the vitality money spend goal is rediculous.

And because of that, now rethinking my decisions.
