Stay away from Discovery Bank

Worst bank I've dealt with (I have accounts at Standard, FNB, Nedbank). Contrary to their advertising, Discovery Bank's credit card interest rates are higher than other banks. They force you to use the phone app, which frequently crashes or connection is unavailable. Functions are obscure/ not intuative. My advice - avoid Discovery Bank, rather stay with any of the big four banks.

Hi Nicolene
Thanks for responding.
The frustrations of dealing with Discovery Bank seem never ending.
The catalyst that prompted me to leave a review this morning is the three hours I've wasted trying to respond to (yet another) FICA request - this time it's case ID ***. It relates to my wife's secondary card on my Discovery Bank account.
She received an email requesting documents to be uploaded on the Discovery Bank web site. When she tried to connect to the web site it asksed for two-step identification via the Discovery Bank app on her iPhone, but no message arrived on her phone. She tried repeatedly but always with the same result, therefore she cannot login to the web site.
Next, I tried uploading the documents using the Discovery Bank app on her phone. That process is obscure, it's unclear what documents are required.
Eventually I submitted the documents that I 'think' the app wants.
Following that, my wife received a garbled message from ***. The email is about two hundred lines long, and all of it looks like this "nhRWNxeKErDi1wxcH5klp0WK4PzXPGgdkjcXDWaJGz0v6Zo7FvxijsjxBJfq/kd4eNwJ4ZI7ErbDh2BDti2/RBiJo6AFuCBkrqiKjpo7Al2Bkbpo7C2inDsXrycET69sN897aYPa455nr1xMKA0Vg4eRxm+zojzH0ggsf1xQzf0Zgz1"
Seriously? What does that mean?
So here we are, after three hours of frustration sustained while trying to jump through Discovery Bank's hoops , and the issue is not resolved.
I anticipate that I will have to waste many more hours writing emails, making phone calls and struggling with the useless app before it is resolved, and that is typical of my experiences with Discovery Bank.

I am a long time Discovery client. You will see on my Hello Peter profile that I have previously left two 5 star reviews for Discovery Insure. However, Discovery Bank deserves 1 star.

Regards
Steve

Thank you for your feedback Steve.

According to the system and the case number provided the lease agreement received was rejected as it was not signed by the Landlord and feedback was send via email.

Kind regards
Nicolene

Really Nicole?

1. the system is wrong, the lease was signed by all parties

2. the only email my wife received is two hundred lines long, and all of it looks like this "nhRWNxeKErDi1wxcH5klp0WK4PzXPGgdkjcXDWaJGz0v6Zo7FvxijsjxBJfq/kd4eNwJ4ZI7ErbDh2BDti2/RBiJo6AFuCBkrqiKjpo7Al2Bkbpo7C2inDsXrycET69sN897aYPa455". She responded to that email and requested that it be resent, but she Discovery did not reply.

3. since my wife cannot login to Discovery Bank because she's not receiving two step authentication messages on the app, please explain to me how she's expected to resolve this stalemate.

4. you have the case number, therefore you have my contact details. If you are sincere about wanting to help, please email me.

Steve
