Request to Close Account Ignored
In May my Discovery Card got migrated to Discovery Bank without my permission or notification. This is a fact as, when I tried to log into the website, the system displayed an email address which has not existed for four years. I called into the call centre to obtain details on my outstanding balance and eft info so I could pay off this account and have it closed. I then received an email on how to change my email address. (REALLY???) I called in again to ask Discovery Bank to close the account. In the meantime they were playing all kinds of little games with pin numbers that I had to go look for, which then disconnected the call. Eventually I got through again, and, after waiting over 20 minutes and at costs of over R70, I was still holding. I then sent in an email that I wanted that account closed, but I received a return mail advising me they don't deal with emails. I called in once again and explained to the gentlemen I dealt with that I wanted the account closed and they would have called me back last week. Still waiting... So I sent in an email reminder to the general Discovery mail to advise I'm waiting for my call back. Today I received an email from one Sasha-Lee Johnson in response to my email, advising me that my Discovery Card has been migrated to Discovery Bank (SERIOUSLY???) and there is nothing more they can do for me. So, for the records - I have been in contact with them numerous times to close the account and they are unable to perform such simple action. Should there be ANY service fees charged to me for this account, please note that I have now done what I could and that I have declared in PUBLIC that such fees will not be carried by me. This has also been posted to FaceBook with no response from Discovery.
Apologies for the delayed response. I can confirm that your Discovery Bank account has been closed.
