R4,700 in bank fees and unauthorised overdrafts!

Thinking about having all your eggs in one basket? Do not do that here with discovery! Discovery Bank had provided me with an UNAUTHORISED overdraft! I had only been made aware that it was overdrawn when I requested for closure as I've never used the account! However over the last year or two it seems discovery had spent R4,700 of money I never approved of! At no point did I agree to an overdraft and throughout this entire time THEY DID NOT NOTIFY ME! how can they let transactions go off an account that doesn't have money in it?! Furthermore, how can they not notify me of this in order for me to act in a timely manner? They had deliberately not notified me of my account status through this time as my information was always updated as I've been spammed with marketing emails from them! They clearly have all my details updated yet failed to advise me of an overdraft I didn't agree to and allowed it to run up to 4,700.00! JUST IN BANKING FEES!? UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT FOR A BANK! I will be pulling out ALL OF MY INVESTMENTS and will take my medical aid elsewhere! Worst part is I've lodged a complaint with them and was promised a call back in 24 to 48 hours. That time has long past. Ridiculous service. They're clearly still a child in the industry. I will be going to the ombuds with this information.
