R2000 in banking fees after 5 months and never having used the account

Had a transaction account for about 5 months and now i owe discovery almost R2k - i havent used the account or cards ever! And now its a mission to cancel the account - since discovery doesnt feel like telling me how to cancel the account i thought maybe someone here might know

Thanks for reaching to us.

A per our account terms and conditions, section B line 88 "You must pay us the monthly account fee whether or not you use the account."

Although it is sad that you would like to close your account, I will log this request on your behalf. Please could you confirm what is the reason for you wanting to close your account?
