Oura Ring Activation Fee Unfairly Withheld Due to Poor Communication

I recently activated the Oura Ring benefit through Discovery Vitality and paid the R999 activation fee. However, it was never clearly communicated — either during the activation process or on the Discovery app — that activating this benefit would make me ineligible for the Apple Watch benefit.

The first time I saw any reference to this restriction (“only one fully funded benefit active at a time”) was in a WhatsApp message from Discovery after I had already completed the activation and paid the fee. I find it unfair to label the activation fee as non-refundable when such key information isn’t made clear upfront.

To make matters worse, I was asked to provide an order number to log a support query — but no such number was ever sent to me via email or the Discovery app. This makes it very difficult to resolve the issue through their official channels and suggests that some of their customer service processes are broken.

In good faith, I am asking Discovery to reverse the activation or refund the R999 fee. I acted in good faith based on the limited and unclear information provided at the time of activation.
