Opportunistic Discovery

With all the debacle of the Vitality and Khulula saga, we as Vitality members were then forced to open a discovery bank account if we still wanted to use our flight discounts. I was a little irritated by this as I do not like being forced or manipulated into buying products and stuff that I don't want or need but have to. So reluctantly I opened a very simple transaction account so if, I fly I can move money into it and then make use of my VITALITY benefit. This account was a R10 a month admin fee which I could live with as this is all this account will be used for. To my surprise this month it's now been increased to R20, when I queried it was told everything is expensive now, so the fees have gone up, by a 100% in my case. So over above the R329 I pay monthly for Vitality I must now add R360 to just keep an account open. The issue is not the amount R20 is a small amount this is more about a principle of being forced into a situation and it is landing up, costing me.

Vitality Travel was never exclusive to Vitality bank, when I started with vitality I booked flights without needing a bank account. So with Comair going bust Discovery saw an opportunity to push members to open bank accounts serving Discovery, instead of looking for another way to allow Vitality members to enjoy their hard earned discounts without being pushed into opening accounts. Just my take on things and waiting for the next maneuver from Discovery.

Vitality Travel was always a Discovery Bank benefit.

The discount you got with Vitality was through our partner at the time, Comair. When they got liquidated, the partnership between Vitality and Comair got terminated.
