Not impressed
I recently app**** for a Discovery Gold card so that I can activate The Apple Watch reward The first quote I was given was for just over R18 000 I then received the quote , signed it and sent it back to be processed with all the requested documents The following week I get another quote to sign so that my order can be processed. Fortunately I always read before I sign , and noticed the amount now was only for just over R8000??? When I queried this I was advised that the amount reflecting on my payslips doesn’t match the amount on my IRP5. I tried to explain to the consultant that the IRP5 is for March2017 to February 2018, my salary increased in March so obviously it won’t match!! As I app**** in August my last 3 payslips will be May, June & July . Still no breakthrough and all you get is “The computer says no!!” I explained to the consultant that I was only trying to get the card so that I can take advantage of the Apple Watch promotion and not to max the card out on things I cannot afford! I also mentioned that I earn monthly commissions as well, I was told that this won’t be taken into account as it’s paid from a person and not a company , even though it reflects in my account every month ! Now why when I app**** for my mortgage loan was this taken into account , this being the biggest loan you’ll ever take out!!! I only have the Health app on my phone I am struggling to reach my daily goals, often ending up still walking around my neighbourhood at 9pm to reach my daily goals.......still no joy. Now for Discovery being all in your face about promoting healthy living , I feel that this is a slap in the face and a MAJOR insult as I have no debt other than a 30% Mortgage Loan on my property, I have an ABSA credit card with an excellent track record with nothing owing on it, and the same with my FNB Credit card. This whole process was a joke, and I honestly don’t understand why you have to speak to a call centre agent that simply just punches in the figures you give them over the phone , offers you a huge credit limit , only for it to be shot down once it goes through the FNB credit system . The worst thing is I bank with FNB, and last night I get a phone to offer me a pre-approved loan of R20 000 !! Sorry but this whole experience has left me wondering if moving to Discovery was such a good idea? Applying for my home loan was a far simpler process .......and you guys are seriously thinking of opening your own bank??? Not interested in any patronising response from a call agent - I will go and buy the watch and pay for it myself, as judging by all the negative comments on here it’s really not worth the effort or trouble to get this card as I’ve also had about 5 different explinations on how the Discovery Miles work . Only positives here was the good service from Maggie and Thashin Govendor that tried the best to help !
