Not bankers, they are just glorified McDonalds cashiers on the phone!
I'm getting paid on the 1st from now. Trying to get my credit card debit order changed from 30th to the 5th so I can make sure its honoured. Simple, right? I cannot tell you the hell they are putting me through because of their "products" and "systems" not being able to deal with my need to change this simple thing. Discovery are not bankers. They have cheapened the offering by "training" call-center agents that can't understand basic financial fundamentals / seriousness unless its on script. After I'm finished each call (I'm sure they are cutting me off), they ask me if there's "anything else you would like help with?" - as if I'd like fries with that?. I wish I'd never taken this product. This "bank" and credit card I now have in addition to the medical aid and insurance has done nothing for me except damaged the Discovery brand. BTW - ITS STILL NOT SORTED OUT !!!!!!!!

To clarify - I called Discovery Tuesday (8 June). My stress is that I had just been notified that from now on I am only getting paid on the 1st of each month. Problem is that my Discovery credit card debit order goes off on the 30th / 31st. Debit order is to settle the full credit card expenditure (I have been using it each month to pay my expenses and then settling it in full end of the month - so its a large amount). This means that there will not be sufficient funds in my current account to settle the d/o on the 30/31st of each month going forward. So I requested the date be moved to the 5th. This will give sufficient time for money to clear into my current account and then me being able to settle my d/o going forward in future. Simple, right?
Instead I receive a confirmation email from Discovery that my instruction was undertaken, and that there will be a d/o this month on the 30th of June, and there forward on 5th August and every 5th of the month going forward. I freaked out when I received this email - as I WILL NOT have the funds in my current account to cover the d/o come 30 June this month (the reason for my making this arrangement in the first place). I tried explaining this to 2 of your call centre agents - both of whom were a mouth full of teeth, both of whom needed to "refer this" to "product managers" or "upper management" or some nefarious king who sits on a throne somewhere because I am asking something that is well beyond the realms of their possibility. It's too late for my request to have been made apparently. Statements apparently closed off, nothing can change, the earth may explode, your systems may melt, Discovery's share price may tank, G-d knows what - if you guys make this adjustment to your system and make this allowance - because that's how inflexible Discovery comes across (or how untrained your call center staff is). I'd like to tell the guys who are paying me that they have messed up Discovery's perfect systems - but I'm afraid they couldn't care less. Me either TBH. Bottom line is - I can tell you, without doubt, my d/o WILL BOUNCE if the date is not adjusted to suit me - because I am unfortunately just your stupid client and not the Reserve Bank and am unable to produce money for myself where there isn't any. Either debit me on the 30th this month and let the d/o return and bounce (and with it these records of my attempts at letting you know in advance) - or adjust the date.
In the meantime Lebohang - please do all the investigations you may require. And please be careful of the systems melting !
PS - your call centre agent promised to come back to me by COB TODAY. I see how well that worked out (its 16 h 58 as i press send here and i have yet to hear back from anyone at Discovery ....

Please accept our apologies for the delay in response. Our team has made changes with your payment due date yesterday to the 5th of every month at the moment your last statement came out on the 6th June where the payment due date is the 30th.you will still need to make payment for the statement before the new payment due date kicks in. you can also make payment arrangement with our collections team on ***available 24hours 7days a week to pay your due amount on the 1st of July and have the 30th June debit order suspended.

You misunderstand completely, (not dissimilarly to the call centre agents I complain about) when you say things like "... the payment due date is the 30th.you will still need to make payment for the statement before the new payment due date kicks in" - where I have clearly explained the situation in full detail (i.e. i will NOT have funds available on the 30th). What is wrong with Discovery if someone's request is not according to some pre-ordained script? Your customers are real people with real issues, not robots.
It is also insulting to invite me to phone your "collections team on **********available 24hours 7days a week" and blank out the numbers. Are you pulling my leg by referring me back into the same Sea of Incompetence I originally complained about here on Hello Peter - while purposely going even further and blanking out the number???
I am afraid, Lebohang, you haven't helped me at all, but have just proved the point of how Discovery isn't really interested in assisting real, live customers. Once again - I am advising you (and anyone who will listen) that my debit order will bounce and return if Discovery is foolish enough to run it on 30 June - for which I have tried ad infinitum to make arrangements to adjust!

BTW well done to Discovery - cut me off from this platform and don't even have a customer service / care email address to correspond with / escalate to.
THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED.
Oh well - let the damn thing bounce.
