No credit card option available for existing account

Joined the bank when it opened, but only had the option to open a transactional account. Cancelled other transactional account and credit card with previous bank, thinking I would get a credit card with discovery bank.

Now after 3 months with the bank you are still kot able to add a credit card to the transactional account. It has been saying ‘Coming soon’ for more than a month and a half. All new applications can get a credit card, so why can’t a credit card be added to an existing account??

Spoke to a call centre consultant to ask if I can just close my account and open a new one with a credit card, but they said this is not possible - why?? They could not provide an answer for when you can add a credit card to account. VERY frustrating

Good day Richard

Thank you for bringing your concerns to us.

The function that allows you to upgrade your account by adding a Credit card to your Transactional account is currently not available. However, our upgrade/downgrade functionality is currently being tested and once approved for go-live will be launched to the public in the upcoming weeks.

At the moment the function that has just gone live is upgrading the colour of your card when you are on a full Banking suite, availability of the other functions will be communicated as soon as available.

Should you choose to close your Discovery Bank account it will require you to start and complete the Account Origination journey by leaving your details on the website and waiting in the que until it is your turn to open a Discovery Bank account.

Kind regards
