No care for the average customer

Dear Discovery Bank Customer Service, I am writing to express my disappointment with the response I received after submitting a cancellation enquiry for my account. I have been a loyal customer for several years, and I expected a level of engagement that reflects the value of long-term relationships. Unfortunately, the reply I received felt generic and dismissive, with no effort to understand my concerns or retain my business. This experience gives the impression that customers with average balances are not considered important, which is deeply concerning. This approach is not only evident in banking but also seems consistent with Discovery’s medical aid services, where similar patterns of indifference appear. It reinforces my decision to cancel my account, as I believe clients deserve to feel valued regardless of their financial standing. For comparison, other institutions such as Capitec demonstrate far better customer care and retention strategies, making every client feel respected and appreciated. I hope you take this feedback seriously and review your customer engagement practices. A strong brand is built on loyalty and trust, and experiences like mine undermine both.
