NEW BANK ACCOUNT DENIED by Discovery Bank.
Hi Discovery Bank,
I am in South Africa for 10 years working here and a Tax payer to SARS . I got Vitality, but when I contacted Discovery to know how to book flight tickets on Vitality travel you guys advised I am not eligible to, because I don't have a Discovery bank account. Because I don't have ID, I am not eligible to get Discovery bank account. WHY??? If I am a foreigner why I am allowed to have Life policy and Vitality.
No private banks in South Africa restrict to have a bank account saying that I don't have ID. This is Insane, being a tax payer to SARS for 10 years. This is absloute ************** by Discovery towards hundreds of thousands of people(Who doesn't have SA ID) who pay taxes to SARS , and have Medical Aid, life policy, Car insurance. I strongly condemn this sort of **************.
If ONLY bank account is denied..then why Discovery is taking money for Medical Aid, life policy, Car insurance from the people who don't have ID, but with WORK PERMIT and paying taxes to SARS in bulding a better nation, South Africa.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Discovery Bank accounts are only available to applicants with South African ID numbers. We are currently working on incorporating the functionality to accept passport numbers. Only non-South African citizens who hold permanent residence can open Discovery Bank accounts.
